DISCIPLESHIP

One of the ways we seek to fulfill Christ’s commission to make disciples of all nations is through our Discipleship Connection classes.  The goal of these classes is to facilitate the growth of all believers, regardless of how long they have been followers of Jesus Christ.  Our classes are designed to address relevant Biblical teachings for each phase of spiritual growth and development.  All of our teachers are mature believers who have been empowered by the Holy Spirit and possess the gift of teaching.

The FLI Discipleship Connection is a 15-month study, which is divided into five 12-week phases.  The classes in each phase provide students with a solid Biblical foundation, as well as a clear pathway of ministry development.  The five phases are as follows:

Phase 1 – Primed for New Life

Our foundational discipleship class is perfect for new believers. In this class, you will get a better understanding of what the Bible teaches about God, sin, repentance, salvation, prayer, and so much more.  Once you have completed this course, you will have a solid foundation upon which to build your new life in Christ!

Phase 2 – Foundation for Growth

Phase 2 continues to expand your foundation by taking a comprehensive look at Christ, righteousness, and water baptism. Time is also spent preparing you to more fully embrace the transformational work of Christ in your life.

Phase 3 – Transformation for Change

As you embrace this transformational phase of the discipleship process, you will learn about sin, the flesh, the world, and the devil. But don’t despair; you will also learn about renewing your mind, overcoming unbelief and unforgiveness, and embracing increased freedom in every area of your life.

Phase 4 – Formation for Strength

Christ lives in you!  This is the victorious message of Phase 4. In this class, you will learn about the importance of community, how to live a more victorious Christian life, and the power of prayer.

Phase 5 – Impartation for Purpose

What is the “Kingdom?” Phase 5 will give you a better understanding of this important concept. You will also learn the importance of small groups and be taught leadership principles and effective tools to use in small group leadership.

Phase 6 – Commissioned for Impact

This final class explores the Biblical, historical, cultural and strategic foundations of God’s heart for the world.  You will gain a new understanding of God’s plan for the nations and how we, as individuals and a church, can see His “kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Discipleship Connection classes are currently held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm in our Education Building.  A new group begins the process with Foundation for Growth every 12 weeks and continues until that group has completed all 5 phases.  Throughout the year, we also have several one-day events for those going through the process who may have missed a class or two or for seasoned believers who merely want to refresh the foundations of their faith.
